Lou Jester “LJ” Isip is the head coach and owner of Krank Pompton Plains with over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry. Growing up in Jersey City, he was bullied throughout most of his childhood for being overweight. Knowing he wanted to change his lifestyle, LJ began learning everything he could about fitness. In high school, LJ became a varsity athlete and in college began training clients at a local gym. That’s when he knew that he had the power to change lives through fitness.
LJ joined the Krank family as an intern at Krank Jersey City, moving on quickly to lead coach at Krank Nutley—all while attending college for athletic training and earning certifications through ACE, AAI and NASM (currently pursuing).
After three years in Nutley, LJ was ready for the challenge of opening his own gym and knew he wanted to bring the high standards and success of Krank to other towns in NJ. Krank Pompton Plains is currently in its third year of operation with LJ at the helm. Along with running the gym, he is also pursuing his lifelong dream as a firefighter for North Hudson Regional.
“I enjoy watching people grow. There’s nothing like thinking back to where a member started from and watching their progression. Whether it is mental or physical—I’m proud to be part of their results.”
Josel was born and raised in Lincoln Park, New Jersey. As a graduate of Ramapo College, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a focus in Sports Science.
Josel grew up as a high-level athlete—competing with top soccer clubs in North Jersey and as a captain at Depaul Catholic High School. He eventually played for the Jersey Blues in the National Premier Soccer League with an invitation to try out for Global Soccer Club, a top division team in the Philippines. His passion for soccer developed into a lifelong desire to push himself, teammates, and friends to continue to reach their full potential.
Eventually Josel would like to open his own facility, continue to become a better coach and person and help others overcome their biggest opponent: themselves.
“I want to give others the confidence that I have always struggled to have in myself growing up. I want to believe in them so much that they learn to trust in themselves to believe they can do anything.
My goal is to help anyone that steps through our doors to not only crush every goal we set but to keep it moving on to the next one. ”

Vallerie "Val" grew up in Montville, New Jersey. Always struggling with her weight—she ballooned to her heaviest while in college. After graduating and beginning her career as a math teacher—Val knew it was time for a change. Through a combination of self-motivation, and support from a colleague, she began training for a 10K and lost over 60 pounds in five months.
After finding her passion for fitness—Val needed another challenge. That is when she discovered Krank Systems—and as they say—the rest is history. Val trained under head coach LJ Isip and immediately fell in love with intense, motivating Krank culture. From classes she moved on to competitive powerlifting and realized her ultimate goal was to help others on their journey.
Now, as a coach at Krank Pompton Plains, Val combines her love of teaching and fitness to help bring the best out of her members.
“My favorite part of coaching is pushing someone to achieve something they never felt was possible. The look on their face—that’s the reason I do this.”
